Lycanthropy, Porphyria and Mythology

The origins of the werewolf came from European Folklore.
Werewolf definition:

Transformation

Hemlock Grove
Within Netflix's original series, Hemlock Grove, the werewolf shown, turns into a wolf, showing a completely different kind of transformation, by the skin shedding, eyes falling out and teeth.
The human form of the werewolf is completely ripped apart.

I really like the idea of this, because it's a completely different way of seeing how werewolves can change into their wolf form. I like the idea of the wolf shedding its human body, it's very creepy.

An American Werewolf In London

An American Werewolf in London shows one of the first quite vivid transformations.
I really liked how you could see the human literally morphing into the werewolf figure. It shows a lot of pain within the scene too, so it comes across as more realistic and unpleasant.
What also was very affective within the scene was the way in which the contrapuntal music was very striking against the quite graphic transformation.
