Mockup of very magazine Horror Magazine

Here shows my very basic mock-up of a horror magazine. This is the very first mock-up I have done of my magazine, using Adobe's Photoshop.
 I used one of the images I had taken of my main character, and used photoshop to black out the whites, iris' and pupils within her eyes.
I wanted the magazine to look quite scary, and slightly violent. I don't feel the masthead text is right for the image, and I think the colouring of the face is slightly too strong.
Although I like the image, I don't think it looks good enough. I feel I may have to do more research into horror magazines so I can get the right look for my magazine.
