More photographs for magazine front cover
I decided to take more photographs so I could redesign my magazine front-cover.
The difficulty I came into was, that the girl within my trailer, was unable to take photos. I decided to use a friend who had similar features to the other girl, and then photoshop her so she would furthermore look similar to the girl within my trailer.
I think this is one of my strongest photographs, because it shows the shock on my model's face.
This facial expression was intended to emphasise the fear created by the create grabbing her. It's supposed to be more of an action shot, a typical convention from within horror. The facial expression shows the reader that the acting is good within the film, and the article will explore the more scary, intense side of the film. Because she looks so afraid, it draws the reader in so they want to read why the girl is in the current situation pictured upon the front cover.
I decided that I needed to use a horror-type hand that's used within my trailer so there was a strong link between the two.
It also was used to obscure the model's face.
I like how abrasive this photograph is. It's very intrusive that the hand in pulling the model's mouth open, and it looks like she's being torn in two.
I think this would be quite an odd photo to work with, because of the composition, because its quite interesting; but I don't know if an audience would turn away from this photograph if it was on a magazine, due to the aggressive nature.
I did my model's make-up similarly to the other girl, so they're would be a link furthermore between the two. I wanted the scratch marks that were on my model within my trailer, on the same side of her face so there would be a link there too.
I decided to use the typical aesthetic conventions from within the horror genre, for my magazine photographs, so a reader would be more interested.
The use of blood across the model's face, and lash gash wound creates the idea of violence. The violence is a typical convention within horror, and emphasises to the reader that the film being featured on the front cover will be more likely than not, a very gorey horror.
